Packet Pick Up/Late Registration 

Friday, July 24 – 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Stephens-Lee Recreation Center

Beat the Saturday rush by picking up your race numbers, shirt and timing chip on Friday.  Jus Running will be on site with a huge selection of shoes and clothing for sale at large discounts. 

Saturday, July 25 – 6:00 to 7:30 a.m.

McCormick Field Concourse

30 Buchanan Place, Asheville NC, 28801

This is the last opportunity to pick up your number, shirt (if still available), and timing chip.  Dunkin Donuts will be on site with fresh coffee for all participants.

Note: Late registration will end promptly at 7:30 a.m.  If you are not registered by this time you will not be able to run the race.

Asheville Tourists Fun Run – Registration will continue for this race until 8:45 a.m.

Chip Pick Up and Return

Timing chips will be distributed at Friday night Packet Pick Up and on Saturday morning from 6:00 to 7:30 a.m.  Follow the signs from the registration area to the Chip Distribution Tent.  You must have your race number to receive your chip.  You will not receive a time without a timing chip.

Upon finishing the race, a volunteer will remove your timing chip for you.  Please do not leave the finish area until your chip has been removed.  You will be charged $30 should you not return your chip.

Race Day Parking

A limited amount of parking is available above McCormick Field near Memorial Stadium and along Buchanan Loop.   On-street parking can be found on the side streets across Biltmore Avenue.

Please obey the barricades and cones do not park on McCormick Place as this restricts the size of the start area.

Charlotte Street, between College and Martin Luther King Blvd, will be closed to vehicular traffic beginning at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday. 

Restrooms

The restrooms inside McCormick Field will be open.  There are no other restrooms on the course.

Important Times

The race begins at 8:00 a.m. sharp below the stadium on McCormick Place.  The start line is marked by banners on each side of the road.  Runners should begin lining up behind the start line at 7:50.  Pre-race announcements will be made at this time. 

Wheeled Vehicles

As you acknowledged in the Liability/Publicity Waiver, wheeled conveyances such as bicycles, scooters and baby joggers are not permitted on the course.

Aid Stations

There are two aid stations on the course at approximately the one and two mile points.  Each station will serve water.

Splits

Digital clocks will be located at the 1 and 2 mile marks.

Post Race Refreshments

Bottled water will be available immediately past the finish line and at the stadium.  Dunkin Donuts and Doc Chey’s will be providing the post-race food.  We ask you place all bottles and trash in the designated receptacles at the finish line and inside the stadium.

Fun Run

The Asheville Tourists Fun Run will be at 9:00 a.m. sharp in front of the stadium gate.  All participants are asked to gather at the sign in front of the stadium by 8:45 in order to receive pre-race instructions.  Anybody who runs the 5K is free to run the Fun Run at no additional charge.  Please keep your 5K number on to identify yourself.

The course takes the runners up and around Buchanan Loop before entering the stadium in right field.  The runners will run around the field along the warning track before finishing down left field to home plate.  Each finisher will receive a commemorative medal.

Awards

The awards ceremony will begin at approximately 9:30 at the grandstand inside the stadium.  Overall and individual awards plus door prizes will be handed out at this time.  You must be present to receive your award.  They will not be mailed.

Door prize drawings will use the tear tab off your race number.  Please drop these in the bins located on the top of each dugout.

Race Photography

Carolina Snapshot will be on hand to take pictures of runners on the course and at the finish line  Runners can look for their photos at www.carolinasnapshot.com following the event.  The runners can purchase their photos online by following the directions at the site.
