The Sunset Stampede, Asheville North Carolina, May 30, 2009

I didn’t run this race because I did the Rock2Rock run the night before.  I was glad to see that the 10 mile race reverted to something similar to its old format in which the uphill portion on Macon, Old Toll and Town Mountain Road are more gradual than the uphill on Patton Mountain Road (the way the race was run in 2008).

But I had the pleasure of volunteering and directing runners for both the 5k and the 10 milers at the corner of Charlotte Street and Chestnut.  It was a beautiful day and a great vantage point for watching the race.
