Retro Run Fletcher, North Carolina, Fletcher Park May 16 2009
|Well I’m sorry that I missed this new four mile run. Fletcher Park is a great location for a race. I did a 5k there in 2007 and that is still my 5k PR. I’m glad to see a good turnout for a first-time race and some top runners such as Aaron Saft and Shiloh Mielke. Maybe I’ll make it next year.
Here are the results …

You don’t often get a long course. That’s interesting. By the way, I think the Human Race was short last year. It was before I got my Garmin, but someone who ran it said it was short and my time was just a little too good.
I took the results that were in alphabetical order (which is how everyone likes to look at race results, right?) and sorted by time. It needed a little clean up too.
I ran this race.
I believe this to be the first race I’ve run which was noticeably longer than advertised. After the race, Lincoln told me that two Garmin-wearers proclaimed the course to be long. Those runners said that they ran 4.1 and 4.15.
Hearing this from Lincoln was a comfort to me, because from the 2-mile mark on, I was fully expecting to finish very close to 30:00.
Dennis, did you find these results in this format, or did you do some sorting? The results posted on the ATC website are sorted with the runners in alphabetical order (That table should prove quite useful, for those times when I want to compare myself to other runners, alphabetically).
And wow, was that course wet. There were puddles the size of Volkswagens on that trail.
The organizers did a very good job with most aspects of this race. The man calling out names for the awards did the best job I’ve ever seen.
It was not a bad race, and I may run it again, if I get the chance.
