Weaverville, North Carolina Firecracker 5k
|It was a great day — 4th of July — in Weaverville, North Carolina. Clear, sunny, but not too hot yet at 8 AM when the Firecracker 5k started. Almost 350 runners took part. A moderate course that spends much of its time in and around downtown Weaverville. I had the pleasure of being cheered on by my wife (twice) as I passed the downtown coffee shop.
This was my first 5k since April (I had done a few longer races since then, but no shart, fast races). I was about 20 seconds slower than I hoped. I finished in 22:50.
Hope to do better in the Coon Dog Days 5k in Saluda on July 7th.
