Rock 2 Rock 10k Trail Run – Camp Rockmont – Swannanoa, North Carolina – May 4 2007

OK.  This race just looks too good to pass up.  So you get off work on Friday afternoon and you head over to Swannanoa for the first night of the Asheville Mountain Sports Festival and you stop in at Camp Rockmont for this awesome trail run.

The race starts at about 5 PM.  You can register the day of the race from about 3 PM until 4:30.  It’s a rocky single track trail and dirt roads.  The course climbs about 1500 ft in the first couple of miles to the summit of Eden Rock (about 3,800 feet).  Then it follows the risgeline to Choctaw Rock (about 3,900) feet.  Then it’s downhill to the finish at Lake Eden.

I find that it’s really interesting and challenging to think that this is the day before the Sunset Stampede.  I mentioned to my wife that these two grueling races were back to back and she said “well you can’t do both.”

We’ll see.

Race fees – $25 until April 15.  $30 after April 15 (including race day registration).
